Our School
Welcome to Payette High School
At Payette High School, we believe every learner deserves opportunities to grow, lead, and prepare for a successful future. Rooted in tradition and driven by innovation, PHS offers strong academics, career and technical education, athletics, fine arts, and meaningful connections that help learners thrive beyond graduation.
Our Story
Payette School District has served the Payette community since the late 1800s, with public education in the area dating back to 1885. Payette High School has long been a central part of the community, reflecting the hard work, resilience, and pride that define Payette.
Located near the Idaho-Oregon border, Payette is a close-knit rural community with deep roots in agriculture, industry, service, and community involvement. Over the decades, Payette High School has evolved to meet the changing needs of learners while continuing to value relationships, tradition, and opportunity.
One of the most recognizable features of the school is its iconic domed gymnasium, originally a radar dome relocated from the former Baker Air Force Station in the 1970s. Today, it remains a unique symbol of Pirate pride and community identity.
