SAT Information for Payette School District Learners
Payette learners take the SAT as part of college and career readiness planning. The SAT is a college entrance exam administered by the College Board and is used by many colleges, universities, scholarship programs, and placement processes as one piece of a learner’s postsecondary readiness profile.
In Idaho, the state provides college and career readiness resources connected to the SAT and PSAT/NMSQT. Payette School District offers the PSAT/NMSQT to high school sophomores in preparation for the SAT. Students should contact their counselor for SAT testing dates and details.
About the SAT
The SAT measures skills in:
- Reading and Writing
- Mathematics
The SAT is administered digitally through the College Board’s testing platform. College Board provides information about what is on the test, how to prepare, what to bring, and what to expect on test day.
SAT School Day
Payette High School administers the SAT during the school day for eligible learners. Families will receive information from the school regarding:
- Test date
- Testing location
- Arrival time
- Device expectations
- Make-up testing, if available
- Test day reminders

Why The SAT Matters
SAT scores may be used for:

Preparing for the SAT
Learners are encouraged to prepare before test day by:
- Reviewing SAT test structure
- Practicing through College Board resources
- Using Khan Academy SAT practice
- Getting a good night’s sleep before testing
- Eating breakfast on test day
- Bringing required materials
- Asking questions before test day
College Board offers free SAT practice resources, including Bluebook practice tests and Official SAT Practice through Khan Academy.
Test Day Expectations
Learners should:
- Arrive on time
- Follow all testing directions
- Bring required materials
- Use only approved devices and materials
- Keep phones and prohibited items put away
- Maintain test security
College Board testing rules require learners to follow test security procedures and use approved testing devices that meet College Board requirements.
Accommodations
Learners with documented disabilities may be eligible for SAT accommodations. College Board requires accommodations to be requested and approved through College Board’s Services for Students with Disabilities before the exam. Families should contact the school counselor as early as possible to discuss timelines and documentation requirements.
Score Reports
SAT scores are typically available through the learner’s College Board account after testing. Learners may use their College Board account to view scores and send scores to colleges or scholarship programs.
